Files can be transferred directly from one Linux server to another Linux server. many people use to transfer the file from Linux to Windows and Windows to Linux. This method will consume lot of time. If to want to transfer a file from one Linux Server to another then follow the below mentioned steps,


1. scp userid@hostname:source_file destiantion_file



Note: Consider 2 servers A and B. this command is executed from server A.


this command will transfer the file from Server B to Server A. From another Linux server to local server.



e.g. scp test@192.168.0.1:/tmp/test_file /tmp





2. scp source_file test@hostname:destination_file



Note: Consider 2 Servers A and B. This command is executed from server A.


This command will transfer the file from Server A to Server B. File transfer will be from local Linux Server to Remote Server. This command will transfer the file in the opposite way of the above command.


 


e.g. scp /tmp/test_file test@192.168.0.1:/tmp/
